GuaSha full routine Walkthrough

This simple to Follow video will help you master the art of GuaSha in no time

I get it: there is a whole LOT of information out there about lymphatic health, it can get very overwhelming. But knowledge shouldn’t be that way, it should be accessible and easy. That is exactly why I made this guide. For over two decades I have been watching as manual lymphatic drainage changes peoples lives for the better.

Within this walk through you will find out exactly what the lymphatic system is and how it works, how it naturally moves and supports us, signs and symptoms of an under functioning system, and EXACTLY how to take the first steps into your own hands (literally!).

Basic anatomy knowledge can be fun as well as educational, trust me. I got you friends. Now, let’s dive in and geek out.

Benefits of Gua Sha:

  • Increases fluid movement

  • Reduces facial tension

  • Supports lymphatic movement

  • Softens fine lines

  • Supports connective tissue

  • Allows for deeper product penetration

  • Nourishes the body, mind, and spirt.

When Gua Sha may not be the best treatment for you:

  • Avoid open sores or cystic acne (work around the area)

  • Do not use over malignant tumors

  • Do not use if you have sunburn (ouch!)

  • Use lighter pressure if you take blood thinners

  • Do not use Gua Sha over any filler

  • Wait at least two weeks after any toxin injectable

How Gua Sha works

What exactly is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha is the delicate practice of scraping the skin with a tool (modern day we have created these beautiful stones to do so, but it used to be done with bones, stones, and even soup spoons!).

This natural and alternative therapy is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and was originally used to assist in decongesting the tissues and addressing chronic, long term issues in the body.

The terminology breaks down into this: Gus means ‘to scrape’ and Sha means ‘sand’ or ‘redness of the skin’. This is exactly what we are doing as we apply this technique: we are creating redness (fluid movement) by gently scraping the skin.

This routine is unbelievably relaxing, and you will see immediate lift and sculpting in the tissue.

Gua Sha also involves something called Yang Shen, which translates to nourishing the body. This is exactly what you are doing when you practice this type of self care, you are nourishing yourself in the best possible way.

Pro Tips:

  • Think of dragging the stone across your skin, not pushing into the skin

  • We are NOT looking to cause pain with this technqiues

  • Try to keep the tool as flat to the skin as possible

  • Move slowly and mindfully

  • Wash your tool after every use
